Perucica Primeval Forest

GENERAL INFORMATION

Perućica Rainforest is a strictly protected area of Sutjeska National Park, covering an area of 14.34 square kilometers. According to scientists from Yale University, Perućica offers a unique study on the role of rainforests in the global carbon cycle, given that it is one of the last rainforests in urban Europe, making it a perfect natural laboratory. Due to its beauty and wealth, in 1952, the rainforest was declared a strictly protected part of nature used exclusively for scientific and educational purposes, while in 1954, it was placed under state protection as a nature reserve.

TOUR OVERVIEW

Day 1

Arrival at the "Sutjeska" camp in Tjentište in the afternoon, unpacking, and dinner. In the evening, we socialize with music in our restaurant. Our staff will present you the schedule of activities for the next day.

Day 2

After breakfast, accompanied by a licensed guide, we head to Sutjeska National Park in off-road vehicles.
A visit to the Perućica Rainforest is next. The Perućica Rainforest is one of the few preserved rainforests in Europe, a strictly protected area of Sutjeska National Park, covering an area of 14.34 square kilometers. The rainforest is extremely rich in flora and fauna, with over 170 species of trees and shrubs registered. You will enjoy beautiful views, one of them being the Skakavac waterfall, located in the heart of the rainforest, over 70 meters high.

After Perućica, the next stop is the Prijevor plateau. On Prijevor, there is a vast plateau suitable for parking a large number of vehicles. Below the road towards Tjentište, about tens of meters from the parking lot, there is a source of ice-cold water, while in the direction of Maglić there are several mountain huts. From Prijevor, there is an unreal view of the mountain massifs of Maglić, Zelengora, Volujak, Bioč.

FOOD

In our restaurant, you will have the opportunity to try various specialties from our region. Delicious homemade food for which you will remember your stay in our camp is prepared daily from fresh ingredients and some of the dishes are moussaka, sarma, pies under the bell, homemade cheese and cream, lamb under the bell and many other dishes.
We also take into account the needs and requirements of our guests, so we have prepared a special menu for vegans and vegetarians. Upon arrival at our camp or when making a reservation, it is only important to mention this and our chef will make sure to let others "try a little" of your dish.

ACCOMMODATION

A total of 90 beds are distributed in accommodation units. When it comes to bungalows, we offer double, four-bed and eight-bed bungalows on two floors. The eight-bed bungalows are suitable for families and larger groups, a private bathroom is located on the first floor.
Also, the camp has six apartments with a private bathroom, which are located in the main building, above the restaurant.
